I'm Cormac. 28.

- looking for a wife
- approximately monogamous
- definitely: a communal house with five to ten adults — our best friends as our village — and lots of kids, ideally some ours
- recovering stock trader; these days working on helping AI go well for humanity
the short version, in his words
I am a brazen problem solver. A lover of dancing in the streets. I am community obsessed. I am endlessly trying to mold this unfinished, malleable world of ours into something better. I have been told I have co-founder, ambitious-partner, ambitious-projects type energy. Let us whiteboard our lives together and try to change the world.
the memo written down, the whole intro, and the I-love list2 min
I just watched a couple passionately make out and then smile at each other like look back a bunch while one of them got on my plane and the other one didn't. I don't know if that still happened. I thought that was a relic from the past. I wonder how one of them is here through security and not getting on the plane. It was so fun to see. Oh my god.
Hi, I'm Cormac. There's a good chance that whenever it is you are reading this, I am in my garden — in which case we are looking at the same weather, the same world. Our experience is connected.
And how is this connected to a real, live human being? Who am I? Well — I am a recovering stock trader. These days I put my brain towards helping AI go well for humanity. It's a really big problem. Luckily, I am a brazen problem solver. A lover of dancing in the streets. I am community obsessed. I am endlessly trying to mold this unfinished, malleable world of ours into something better. I have been told I have co-founder, ambitious-partner, ambitious-projects type energy. Let us whiteboard our lives together and try to change the world.
Want to learn more? Click around. Have fun exploring my garden. You will get to hear what my community thinks of me. And if it makes you curious to meet the real me — the me with a body and a brain and emotions and goals and desires, just like you — then ask me on a date, motherfucker.
- Here’s who I think I am.
- I love being in my body (isn’t cuddling just so so great — skin to skin — it’s such a treat that we evolved this way)
- I love play
- I love bringing joy
- I love being tactical
- I love accomplishing things
- I love making positive sum trades with others
- I love being a reliable trading partner
- I love striving towards something great
- I love being efficient
- I love conspiring
- I love comfy vibes
- I love flirting
- I love cultivating and being part of a culture that does slightly inconvenient things that will have large payoffs for others
- I love to be
- This world is so wonderful, so beautiful, so filled with joy
- It’s so special that I and you get to inhabit it together.
- To feel the wind on our skin. The sun beaming down on us.
- I love being alive
- I love having such a joie de vivre
It's never enough. It's never enough. There's always more. There's always more we could have done. There's always more we could be doing. And balancing that with living a life filled with joy and wonder in this expansive world we live in is hard. The balance is hard.
And it's good to appreciate the small things, like your plants and your people and the sun.
people who know me
each of these comes from a whole recording in the garden — the animals hold their voices. nothing here is out of anyone's mouth but theirs.
One time, Cormac showed up to a party a little out of breath, and I said, “Huh, did you run here?” He's like, “No, I danced. Why walk when you can just dance places?” And that's really indicative of who he is as a person. The enthusiasm, the joie de vivre, is stronger in him than most I've seen.
vegan ice cream shows up at your door and there's strange calls to adventure that appear in various places. There's Easter eggs in your life because he's, like, really, really paying attention. Like, being Cormac's romantic partner means he has, like, worked you into his worldview.
I don't know why Cormac's kind of annoying. Like, I like him, but he has this, like, younger brother energy. He's both very capable at reading me and sometimes either forgets to or chooses not to. And so I'll get these, like, chirpy voice notes and/or calls where he's like, "Hey, it's wonderful. The sun is so bright. Everything's lovely." And I'm like, "I would like you and everybody else to die."
someone who dated him, and eight more friends3 min
the quintessential Cormac story for me is that he introduced me to my wife. That has made an enormous, almost an infinity-sized difference in my life, completely changed the entire course of my life.
He can make the bizarre feel normal. And he makes the normal sometimes feel a bit bizarre.
I feel as if Cormac is someone who in the same sentence would say rationally, I can't or shouldn't say that I love you before we date for four months or 4.3 or whatever his model or algorithm would tell you. But then in that same sentence, yeah, he'd tell you he loves you anyway.
Like, dating Cormac means, you know, you find out there's a secret Google Doc that he was keeping lists of your preferences so that he could find ways to surprise you that you didn't know about. Or that he jumps on a plane and flies out when you're having a hard day at work across the country so that he can give you a hug that night.
I feel like whoever he ends up marrying is just going to be so drowned in love and devotion and will just feel so special all the time.
… who can take on the world with him and help him focus on his projects, I guess. And help him finish things sooner rather than later, and will be just as alive as him.
I've often been someone who's, like, pretty hard to reach, but you'll call and you'll text and you'll email and it doesn't feel incessant or extra. It feels like you're putting in the effort. And I'm grateful for that.
I think Cormac's bad traits are, like, pretty obvious. Like, I guess I find him a little annoying at times, but, like, that's not — you can figure that one out for yourself.
… Yeah, I think I'd say go on that date.
we were very scared of Cormac for a while until he slipped this, like, weird puzzle under our door. I don't remember how it worked, but it was some sort of code that we had to decipher. And the gist of the message was, “Hey guys, would you like to be friends?”
… We were all, and sort of all remain, worried about the cult leader he may one day become.
Of the people who like Cormac, I suspect are actually werewolves and might kind of turn wild and eat me at any given second. I think Cormac is one of the sweetest and gentlest ones.
Cormac did this all for people he didn't know solely because he loved the, the spirit of connecting. And I think that's, that's his lasting legacy in that, that group of people. Well, that, that, and the fact that he never did tally the scores and never did announce a winner.
one might be a bit scared to go on a date with someone who is pitching marriage from the get-go
… I think a lot of otherwise-would-be wonderful people may be made nervous by that.
There just aren't that many men in the world who are the sorts of people who are going to cry with you about the ways in which the world is broken. And also, motherfucker, he cries about the ways the world is beautiful, which is a real advanced spiritual move. I cannot do that.
who I hope you are
Quick witted. Playful. Embodied. Smart. I want someone to take on the world with. Someone to know all the way down.
attraction, ambition, and bodies — the whole answer1 min
Quick witted. Playful. Embodied. Smart. I want someone to take on the world with. Someone to know all the way down. Someone to be utterly obsessed with and for you to be utterly obsessed with me. Have I mentioned smart and playful already. I guess also at least a smidge competitive. We should want to always be doing better, to be growing. Both for ourselves but also for eachother, which means our relationship should make both of us better. We should find eachother so fucking hot. Smoldering desire. What does this mean for me? I don’t know I have only every really truly desired someone maybe 3 times in my life. I am picky. I hate this about myself. What? I have to not only love your brain, love your outlook, love your emotions, but also your body and your smell. This feels so hard, I am so jealous of my friends who fall easily for others. I think when it comes to bodies, the most important thing is someone who cares for their body. Uses it, whether that be going to a gym a couple times a week, or dancing, or running, or chopping down trees, or the myriad other ways to be in and use and keep a body healthy. I am so appreciative of past me for taking care of this body so present and future me can feel good in it and do oh so many things, and I want a partner who feels similarly.
what could our life look like?
I want a communal house — five to ten of us, some of our best friends as our village. And kids: raising kids in villages has been the norm for time immemorial. Ideally some ours.
And for all of these big dreams, most days will still seem like average days. But they won’t feel mundane. Because we will get to share them with eachother.
from the letter he wrote to his future wife2 min
And I'm like, man, I just want to wrestle someone, but then like cuddle up and get cozy and watch a movie, you know? Sounds so nice. And instead, I'm laying with the window open, kind of doing nothing, letting my Claudes do their work. But it's so much worse than wrestling and cozy cuddling. Whew.
Me paying so much attention to you. You paying so much attention to me. We might strategize and problem solve towards our biggest aspirations. We might just marvel at the simple joys we get to experience. Together. We would of course play with eachother. In so many ways. Fun competition. Supporting and pushing eachother to greater and greater heights.
Quiet comfy cozy cuddling after long days. Slow weekend mornings appreciating just how lucky we are to wake up next to eachother in this wonderful existence we share. And yes there will be hard days, hard weeks, maybe even hard years. But I will love you throughout it. We will disagree, it will happen. But nothing will ever really be a fight, because at the end of the day I will just want to understand you.
We will live in a communal house(s). Probably 5 to 10 of us. Yes this is very important to me. We will not only love eachother but we will be lucky enough to have so much care for (and from) the fantastic people we live with. There will be children. Hopefully eventually as many kids as adults. Some of them ours. Raising kids in villages has been the norm for time immemorial for a reason. We will get to revel in perhaps the single largest source of meaning across all of human history, helping to bring more humans into this world, with some of our best friends as our village.
so?
Like, to be clear, he's a strong flavor. There's one Cormac in the world. He's extremely strange. And you very well may not like him. Which is fine. But you probably should meet him, you know?
